"Nodame Cantabile" originally started out as a Japanese manga series created by Tomoko Ninomiya back in 2001.

The series is about an arrogant perfectionist studying music in an arts college. The protagonist gets involved with an odd, but taleneted pianist, which acts as the inciting incident of the series.

The series was so successful, it was eventually adapted into an anime, live-action Japanese drama and live-action movie as well.

The leads for the Japanese version of the live-action series was Ueno Juri and Tamaki Hiroshi.

The title for the Korean version of the drama has not been decided yet. It has been confirmed that Group 8, which was reportedly involved in the production of live-action Korean dramas based on "Boys Over Flowers," "Princess Hours" and "Playful Kiss" will be producing the upcoming series.

In the Korean version, Joo Won will be playing the role of Shinichi, the prodigy musician.

There has been speculation that actress Shim Eun-kyung may be assuming the role of the female lead, Noda Megumi, in the live-action drama, according to Crunchyroll.

Shim's agency has reported that she has been in contact with the production staff, but the actress has yet to receive a script, according to Allkpop.

Shim Eun-kyung rose to fame in Korea for her performances in "Miss Granny" and "Sunny."

The series is set to air on KBS.
