Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' split is definitely behind them as the A-list couple engaged in red carpet PDA when they held hands and exchange loving looks during the 41st Chaplin Award Gala at the Lincoln Center in NYC Monday night.

It seemed like yesterday when Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' marriage was in danger of heading to divorce.

As Michael Douglas said late last year, per Huffington Post, that sometimes couples take a bit of a time off away from each other, "but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end." During the duration of the split, he said they were in constant communication while trying to save their marriage.

In a series of photographs published on MailOnline, the "Wall Street" actor was dressed in a white shirt and purple time underneath a smart suit, while Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a puffy monochrome skirt and black pullover.

Two weeks ago, the couple graced the red carpet opening for "The Library" at the Public Theater in NYC dispelling any signs of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' split a few months back.

"The Library" is a play from Steven Soderbergh regarding the shooting of a school and the unintended consequences. It will also feature former child star, Chloë Moretz, who's now 17 years old.

Their appearance at the Public Theater event came eight months after Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' split rumors were confirmed.

According to E! News, their red carpet appearance marked "the first time they attended an official event since separating."

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split a few months back and even sparked divorce rumors reportedly over his insensitive remarks in an interview following his successful battle with throat cancer.

Although Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' marriage appeared to be on the rocks in August last year, there was no formal filing for divorce from both camps. The couple has two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.
