Huawei Ascend P6 Review, Update, Specs: $300 Unlocked Price Of Android Handset Makes It A Value Hit; Could This Compete With More Budget Friendly Devices?

Huawei Ascend P6 review, update: The 4.7-inch big Android powered Huawei Ascend P6 is priced at roughly $300 for an unlocked version. The device was initially the world’s slimmest smartphone until it was “out-thinned” by the Gionee Elife S5.5.

Though specs of the unit make this device a value hit there are still more factors to consider including its competition. Currently newer devices, including the critically acclaimed Nexus 5 and Moto G which are priced at $350 and $178 respectively, sports more sleek designs and updated OS.

This slim smartphone with a 6.18 mm thickness and an HD display of 1280 x 720 pixels is a true value hit. Add to the fact that the 8 megapixel main camera of the handset can capture macro shots from as close as 4 centimeters. It’s front-facing camera has a powerful 5MP camera that makes for great selfies.

Citing sources from HuaweiNews, February was out of the question for the P6’s KitKat update. According to reports, the roll-out on the Huawei Ascend P6 has been delayed until early March. True to earlier news, the company began rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat OS around the first week of the said month.

G4Games says though that since the Huawei Ascend P6 has been successful internationally, the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Ascend P6 have a global rollout.

A beta KitKat firmware for the Huawei Ascend P6 has been leaked last month and by the time official update becomes available, its possible that a new, more complete firmware will hit the blogosphere.

Huawei Ascend P6 was officially announced in June 2013. According to Phone Arena, the P6 is one of the slimmest smartphone in the market with a thickness of only 6.18 mm. Specs of the device include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch LCD display, 8MP main camera and 2000mAh battery. The unit weighs a mere 120 grams.

TechRadar gives the Huawei Ascend P6 a 4/5 rating, describing the unit as the Chinese tech company’s strongest smartphone yet. The review site notes as a plus the P6’s sharp design, extremely thin and light frame, and strong screen.
