‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Vs Star Wars 7: Who Will Make More Money? Disney Is Ultimate Winner With Two Billion Dollar Movies In 2015!

Ever since both films were announced to be released on the same year, this has been an object of speculation. But while we debate between "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" or "Star Wars Episode VII" all the Disney executives hear is "Ka-ching!"

Which movie will make more money? It's not about being the better movie,  just projecting the box-office returns. Schmoes Know tackled this topic, and they placed their bets on Star Wars. The main reason, the return of the Big Three: Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo and Princess Leia.

Their assessment:

"But there's my point - everyone around the world waited with baited breath for an announcement - any announcement. And everyone wanted to know one thing right off the top - will Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia be back? That was the golden ticket - the main game - the question on everyone's mind. Call it nostalgia, call it hate for the prequels, call it whatever you want - the level of intrigue over who would fill the roster for Star Wars Episode VII and, moreover, if the BIG THREE would be back, caused everyone to lose their friggen minds!"

However, in the Superherohype forums, most of the geekdom voted for Avengers 2. From user "jonathancrane:"

"I would say Avengers 2, as well. The Star Wars film has a few things going against it:

1. The Prequel Trilogy. It is going to take a lot to wash the terrible taste of the trilogy away.
2. Age. If they go forward with the alleged casting, then the film is going to have the casting go against it as well: time has not been kind to Fisher and Hamill; Abrams would be wise to not have them involved in any fight scenes. Ford, on the other hand, can pull it off, as he running the fine line that Hamill and Fisher fell off of.
3. Destruction of the Expanded Universe. Sure, some people are happy it is gone, but to those who actively purchased EU products - books, films, comics, and video games-the fact that the texts they enjoyed are no longer in continuity is inflammatory. Hell, I am almost tempted to sell/throw out most of my SW books and associated merchandise because of this decision."

While it focused on the negative side of Star Wars, the positive factors for the Avengers include:

A more 'current' cast that includes three lead stars of solo film series wherein the lowest box office number is $500 million.

"Avengers: AoU" marks the end of Phase 2 and the start of Phase 3, meaning it's right in the middle of a developing storyline that millions of people are currently following.

The marketing scheme for the Avengers has been more effective primarily because Star Wars is relying too much on sentimentality and the legacy of the franchise. Avengers is not leaving any stone unturned.

It will be close, and both movies will easily cross the billion dollar mark. Disney is the ultimate winner. Warner Bros already backed off with "Batman Vs Superman." It is probably the prudent choice to stay clear of the juggernauts.

Which movie do you think will make more money?
