‘Acting Idols’ Have Changed - Im Siwan Vs Lee Joon

There have been an increasing number of idol members acting. It's rare to see any drama or movie without a single idol member. Of course, there is the negative perception that these idol stars inhibit the growth and development of other rookie actors. That's because of the fact that these idols are being cast due to the fact that they've become popular and more familiar because of their singing careers. But now, thanks to the talented idol members, this perception is changing.

ZE:A's Im Siwan

ZE:A member Im Siwan is an 'acting idol.' At the time of his debut, he didn't receive much attention. The project that really got his name out there was MBC drama "Moon Embracing the Sun" in 2012. His graceful appearance and solid acting skills left a strong impression on the viewers. He then also starred in KBS 2TV's "Man from the Equator" in 2012 and "Waiting for Love" in 2013.

Not only that, Im Siwan also starred in the movie The Lawyer, which had over 10 million viewers. In the movie, he showed off a variety of images, including an innocent college student and more.

Im Siwan will be continuing his work in acting on MBC's new drama "Triangle." He will play the youngest brother Yoon Young Ha. As a child he was adopted into a rich family and lived a blessed life, but he still possesses the grief and trauma from having been abandoned at a young age.

MBLAQ's Lee Joon

From his music debut MBLAQ's Lee Joon showed off his acting. It started with the portrayal of Rain's younger years in the movie Ninja Assassin in 2009. He also starred in Jungle Fish 2 in 2010, SBS drama "Ghost" in 2012, and KBS 2TV drama "Iris" in 213.

The next project was the movie Rough Play in 2013. He stripped down for the bed scenes, and used his intense gaze, not holding back. He was praised by viewers for his acting. He even took home the Rookie Award for acting.

Lee Joon is currently starring in cable channel tvN's "Gap Dong." In this work he played a psychopath named Ryu Tae Oh. In the drama he gives off the vibe of a young man with a gentle smile, but in fact, he is a character that is insensitive to others' pain. His eerie facial expression acting and presence add a layer of suspense to the drama.
