Actor Joo Won To Act In New Chinese Film, 'Xiao You Qiao Mu'

Fans will be excited to know that actor Joo Won is set to showcase his acting skills in the Chinese film industry. 

On May 5, his agency revealed that he would be playing a role in the new China-Korea collaboration movie, "Xiao You Qiao Mu."

Director Lee Sang Gyu of Yeuhua Entertainment's Korean branch stated, "Joo Won's dramas received a lot of love in China and he is also receiving a lot of interest from the fans after the recent reports came out about his appearing in the drama 'Nodame Cantabile.'"

Lee added, "Considering the Hallyu wave in China, this production will likewise be a considerable hit. There will be a positive result from this collaboration between the best Chinese film partner and Joo Won's acting skills."

This movie is a melodrama based on an internet novel that portrays the love story involving three men and one women, according to Allkpop. This movie is said to be a whole new interpretation of the original storyline. 

Hangeng has reportedly been cast in the movie as Jo Jin Kyu is set to direct. 

The cast and crew will begin filming sometime in the middle of May. 

Joo Won's career has been skyrocketing after his roles in the Korean drama "Good Doctor" and "Gaksital."

Aside from being cast in the lead in the Korean drama adaption of the popular manga series "Nodame Cantabile," Joo Won's movie "Fashion King" will be showcased in the 67th Cannes Film Festival. 

Joo Won was also recently nominated at the 50th Baeksang Art Awards for his role in "Good Doctor," according to Manila Bulletin.

He is nominated alongside actors Kim Soo Hyun ("My Love From the Stars"), Lee Jong Suk ("I Hear Your Voice"), Yoo Ah In ("Secret Love Affair") and Jo Jae Hyun ("Jung Do Jun). 

The award ceremony, which honors oustanding South Korean TV and film work, will be held on May 27 at Kyunghee University Hall of Peace.
