One Direction's Zayn Malik and his girlfriend Perrie Edwards are now happily engaged - but what was the Little Mix singer's first impression of Zayn Malik?

"I didn't really like Zayn when I first met him, because I didn't know him and he seems a bit cocky and a bit full of himself," Perrie Edwards said of her now-fiance, the One Direction singer Zayn Malik, Unreality TV reports.

Luckily, first impressions don't always last: Zayn Malik and his girlfriend Perrie Edwards got engaged last August!

"Then I realised that he's the most sweetest, most amazing person in the world. So you just need to get to know someone really," Perrie said.

According to Unreality TV, after Zayn and Perrie first met they texted non-stop, with the One Direction singer actively pursuing the Little Mix sweetheart.

"I think we texted every day after we met anyway and then it just happened. But he pursued me," Perrie giggled.

Zayn Malik is currently on the "Where We Are" tour 2014 with One Direction in South America. Though the distance might be tough, Zayn and his fiancee have learned how to deal with the distance during their world tours.

"It's gonna be tough but we always make it work," Perrie told Us Weekly about Zayn travelling for much of this year on the One Direction tour. "Lots of texting and talking. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I guess."

Hopefully they can start thinking about wedding plans soon! The distance is definitely going to make it hard to schedule a wedding anytime soon while Zayn is on tour with One Direction.

"Everything is so busy. Hopefully we will one day be able to sit down together and start making plans," Perrie Edwards said about her upcoming wedding to the One Direction singer, Us Weekly previously reported. "No date at all in mind yet."
