YG Entertainment Once Again Teases Fans With 'Who's Next?'

As one of the most well-known and respected entertainment agencies in South Korea, YG Entertainment certainly has a knack for keeping fans on their toes.

Home to some of the biggest names in the K-Pop industry, the label sets itself apart from others in the biz by encouraging their artists to take on a majority of the production responsibilities for new releases.  Everyone from popular idols like Big Bang's G-Dragon and 2NE1's CL to the folky brother-sister duo Akdong Musician and international sensation Psy gets involved at YG - and if a song does not meet the singer's standards, it is continually adjusted until it is perfect.

While this means that the quality of music produced in the YG studio is often times above and beyond that which is recorded elsewhere, it does tend to throw a wrench into the release schedule for the company.

After several years of postponed releases, YG fans have, for the most part, learned to accept this fact as the end result is usually very much worth it.  But that does not stop anyone from getting excited when an announcement is finally made!

May 15 saw an all too familiar teaser from the record label - an ambiguous celestial image that asks the question, "Who's Next?"

Last year YG released a similar image prior to the announcement that the leader of popular girl group 2NE1, CL, would be making a solo debut, and also announced the summer comeback for the band.

This time around things are just as puzzling as before.

There has been a lot of talk about Big Bang's new album currently in the works, but most information appears to indicate that fans can expect that sometime in the summer.  This new teaser seems to imply that something big is about to happen much sooner than that.

But who?

Psy, the iconic man behind 2012's international hit "Gangnam Style" was slated to return with his seventh album back in September.  At more than a year since the release of his sophomore single "Gentleman," he is high upon many fan lists of who could be the next YG artist to come back.

WINNER may also be a likely choice for some. The upcoming new boy band from YG already has their foot in the door as the opening act for 2NE1 on their All or Nothing World Tour and has a significant fan following after winning the YG-produced reality competition show WINNER: Who's Next?  Is it finally time for their debut?

Speaking of debuts - there has been talk for more than a year that YG Entertainment is preparing to debut a new girl group.  While it seems a tad unlikely considering many of the already established artists are in the midst of new musical projects, a new, unheard of group would definitely be a welcomed surprise!

It also seems that no one has heard from Epik High in a while.  The long-established hip-hop trio made their YG debut nearly two years ago and fans are likely getting a little lonely without new tunes from Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz.

Perhaps one of the many other talented artists in the YG Family?  Will Lee Hi have a new single?  Is TOP finally going to release a solo album?  Could we see a surprise reunion of 1TYM?  Maybe all of them?

Patience is a virtue, YG fans - but in the meantime, who do YOU think is next?  Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
