Rafael Nadal Girlfriend Maria Francisca ‘Xisca’ Perello Distracting Him From Tennis? Nadal Loses to Novak Djokovic at Italian Open

Rafael Nadal recently has been having too much fun with his hot hometown girlfriend, Maria Francisca Perello. Can it be that she's distracting him from tennis? He lost to Novak Djokovic at the Italian Open yesterday in a straightforward three setter.

Two weeks ago, Nadal and Maria "Xisca" Perello were spotted in Cancun, Mexico having the time of their lives. In his green board shorts and her monochrome polka dot bikini, they kayaked and shared a moment while deep-sea diving.

A couple of seven long years, Rafa and Xisca decided to take time off before Nadal starts preparing for the remaining Grand Slam tournaments in France and the U.K. But the plan may have backfired. Nadal lost in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, as well as the most recent defeat to Serbian Novak Djokovic at the Italian Open.

This marks the first time in a decade that the top seeded Nadal has lost more than two matches on clay, his favorite playing surface, in the same year.

"I played well for moments... but I could have done with a little more energy at times. My legs didn't answer me after a tough week," admitted the Spaniard.

Could it be that Nadal's focus is drifting? A source says that Nadal and Maria prioritize family over any other value. At 24 years old, Maria Francisca Perello is not the typical girlfriend to a rich athlete that one might expect.

Nadal and Maria come from the same small town called Manacor in Majorca Island off the eastern coast of Spain. She has been described as "a straightforward no-nonsense girl not interested in glamour and fame." Their relationship was under wraps for nearly three years.

One source said, "They are not at all interested in a celebrity lifestyle. They get together when the tournaments are over. That's how Raf winds down."

But it seems like his opponent and six-time major champion Novak Djovokic has no problem with the work-family balance:

Nadal better keep his head in the game if he's in it for the long haul! We will see if he rises to the challenge this French Open commencing in one week.
