The Kevin Love saga has treaded the expected route despite the All-Star forward's denials. Ricky Rubio thought he could veil his statements behind the language barrier, but his frank statements may eventually bode well for the team.

Ricky Rubio, who was interviewed by Spanish website Basketball Americano, was open with his thoughts that Love's frustration has compromised his leadership capabilities. The translation was from Reddit, post from CBS Sports:
"The player considers that 'motivation has been one of the problems' that they have had and he opined 'that starts with the (coaching) staff, the head coach and the assistants are the ones that should impart that (...) Even if he was only at 80 percent, 70 percent, Rick Adelman is a coach that knows a whole lot.'
About his teammate Kevin Love, the Spanish point guard says that 'he is a special player, the numbers that he puts up are incredible, but still the leader has to be somebody else (...) He leads in scoring, in other things, but in voice he is not the type of player that wants to be or that can be, no? There are different types of leaders. Still, it did not have to have been him, it should have been Kevin Martin, with a little more experience, or even I can take a step further and start to be the definitive leader.'
Rubio keeps it real, but Fox Sports defends Kevin Love:
"Love has remained loyal to the Timberwolves since he was drafted, despite the fact that the front office has not assembled a playoff team. Love went public with concerns over his contract a while back, but others in his situation would have become much more of a problem by now.
Like the rest of us, Rubio knows Love is as good as gone. He probably wants it to happen sooner rather than later. If Love is intent on leaving, there's no sense wasting an entire season with a frustrated superstar who has no interest in being with the team."
It will not be a personal issue between them, but Rubio's honesty is a relief from all the fake denials we have heard the past year.
