The Minions Movie 2015 Release Date Moved! Cute Witty Yellow Creatures Versus ‘Gravity’ Star Sandra Bullock As Scarlet Overkill

The Minions movie 2015 release date has been moved from the original Dec. 19, 2014 to July 10, 2015 as announced on Friday.

Universal's decision to move the movie means that it'll have no animated film to release this year, a first since 2009.

The studio did not give any information as to why they moved Despicable me Spinoff 'The Minions' movie 2015 however, someone close to the company revealed to The Wrap that Universal is determined in repeating its success with "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2," both were released on July.

Nevertheless, Universal's decision to move Despicable Me spinoff "The Minions" movie 2015 to summer, could be a risk since, it will be a month loaded with action-heavy reboots and/or sequels. It'll have to be "The Minions" Vs. "Terminator 5," "Independence Day 2" and the highly-controversial and anticipated film "Batman Vs. Superman." Quite a handful eh?

But, this could also come in favor for the studio and its short, yellow-colored creatures. Despicable Me spinoff "The Minions" will serve as a counter-programming for those who are not interested in heavy-action films, or reboots perhaps. A rather wise decision as well as students are known to be having a break from school, which will give them time to watch the film.

Despicable Me spinoff "The Minions" movie 2015 will feature the voices of Steve Carrell, Jason Segel and Russell Brand.

The brunette Oscar-winning actress, Sandra Bullock, lends her voice as the villain, Scarlet Overkill, in the film.

"The Minions, breakout stars from Despicable Me, are presented in an origin story that showcases their unpredictable personality and physicality, and pairs them with equally memorable human characters. As it turns out, Minions have existed since the beginning of time. They have evolved from single (yellow) cell organisms into the familiar beings we know, and they live for a collective purpose: to seek out and serve the most despicable master they can find. Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock will lead the voice cast of characters as Scarlett Overkill, the worlds reigning super-villain of the 1960s".

Pierre Coffin, who co-directed the "Despicable Me" franchise with Chris Renaud, directs the 3D-CG spinoff film. This project marks the fifth motion picture collaboration of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.
