New Android Phones 2014: Acer Announces 5 Handsets, A Tablet And A Smartwatch Ahead Of Press Event Next Week

Today, Acer launched a bunch of new Android phones for 2014 which range from entry level to higher midrange. Interestingly, the company announced its devices ahead of the Computex event, Asia's equivalent of the Consumer Electronics Show, which would be held in Taiwan beginning June 2. 

For Android lovers who prefer higher-end smartphones, you will certainly be pleased with the new Acer Liquid X1 which packs an enormous 5.7-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The screen boasts Zero Air Gap technology for a better viewing experience. 

On the inside, the smartphone runs on an octa-core chip, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP primary camera at the back, 2,700mAh battery, Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, and a microSD card slot. 

Meanwhile, there is also the Acer Liquid E600 and E700 which shares similar specs, but they are aimed at different market groups. The E700 is the better smartphone specwise with its quad-core chip, 2GB RAM, 8MP shooter, a huge 3,500mAh battery, and three SIM compatibility. 

The E600 on the other hand, boasts LTE connectivity, a 2,500mAh batterry, Snapdragon 400, and 1GB of RAM. 

The third Android handset on the list is the Liquid Jade smartphone, paired with Acer's first wearable device - the Liquid Leap smartband. The smartphone packs a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 13MP shooter. Its wearable partner, on the other hand features a 1" touchscreen display and primarily does health and fitness tracking.

The least spec'd handset of the bunch is the Acer Liquid Z200 which gets a 4-inch WVGA display, dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, a 2MP primary camera and a 1,200mAh battery. 

Last but not the least is the Acer Iconia 8 slate which boasts an 8-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an Intel Atom chipset, and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.
