ToppDogg's Music Video For 'TopDog' Does Everything Right [MV Review]

Not all music videos are made equal.

With an abundance of members, ToppDogg is always at risk of focusing more on getting members on film than on creating a music video that is visually exciting. However, ToppDogg has proved yet again that its size won't be a hindrance, but rather a stepping stone to more complex music videos and songs.

The music video for "TopDog" has a futuristic feel to it and splits the idol group into two groups that are competing to create a bit of a plot.

Two of the members, Hansol and P-Joo, compete using holograms to create the best music. The other members are differentiated into teams based on wearing more black or white as they dance together with powerful movements.

Throughout the song and the dance performance, Hansol and P-Joo continue to compete.

The video takes a bit of a turn halfway through when the members find themselves in a destroyed cityscape. Buildings rise from the ground for seemingly no reason, and create a new set for the members to dance within.

Even though there's no real storyline, "TopDog" is visually fascinating and the sets are incredibly detailed.

The members also prove that they can handle a variety of different fashion styles in one video, since members appear in numerous styles. Throughout the video, members appear in suits, stylish men's wear, sweatshirts, shorts, and more.

Unfortunately, some viewers think that the video is a bit too much. Fans who have commented on the video are torn between loving the concept, or being completely overwhelmed by the multitude of events going on without a clear event.

Fans also expressed disappointment that ToppDogg member Kidoh didn't appear in the video, due to his solo activities.

"TopDog" is from the group's latest album "Amadaeus," and is heavily influenced by classical music even while offering a song filled with rap and hip-hop elements. The group has proved before, with "Arario," that it can take traditional forms of music and make it suit ToppDogg's style.

The video was released on June 8.
