Sexy & Sweet Concepts Dominate Male K-Pop Releases In June

Big Bang Taeyang has embraced an even sexier side to deliver a racy concept for “1 AM”. Taeyang, who was often overshadowed by his Big Bang group mate and friend G-Dragon, has introduced fans to his more mature side for his solo album "Rise".

“1 AM” is the follow up to the track “Eyes, Nose, Lips”, which has also driven fans wild.

While Taeyang is no stranger to shirtless concepts, he exudes raw masculinity and a carefree persona for “1 AM”.

As a member of Big Bang, Taeyang has participated in numerous concept and image changes. Whereas his “Alive” and “Ringa Linga” concepts evoked images of cyberpunk rebellion, Taeyang embraces a more contemporary style for “1 AM”.

K-Pop male groups have also turned away from futuristic concepts in June, to explore both more mature and softer sides.

U-KISS set hearts thumping with their nineteen plus music video for “Quit Playing”.

“Quit Playing” was released to promote their mini album “Mono Scandal”. The concept drew widespread attention for featuring the members of U-KISS in provocative bedroom poses.

BEAST released a photo teaser featuring a flower boy concept as part of their initial promotions for their sixth mini “Good Luck”.

The first track from “Good Luck” is “No More” which showcases BEAST in a boy next door, Instagram inspired concept.

"No More" leaves viewers wishing that Beastagram were an actual social media tool.

“No More” is a sharp contrast to the dark supernatural concepts of “Shadow” and “I'm Sorry”, as well as the melancholy “Flower” by BEAST member Yong Jun Hyung.

Fans of B.A.P have expressed mixed feelings over the endearingly sweet concept for their acoustic release “Where Are You? What Are You Doing?”

As the group becomes more established, B.A.P has ventured further from their debut militaristic hip hop style.

With its ode to British male group The Beatles, “Where Are You? What Are You Doing?” is a far cry from “Warrior” or “No Mercy”.

The ability of Taeyang, B.A.P, BEAST, and U-KISS to reinvent themselves through ever changing concepts has made June a wonderful month for fans of K-Pop.
