g.o.d, Fly To The Sky, Taeyang, BEAST - Take Top Of Music Charts, Dance-Pop Songs Nowhere To Be Seen
The heat wave is here. The weather is brighter, but the music charts are topped with heavy ballad songs and lack upbeat dance songs.
There was a haunt in K-Pop form the Sewol Ferry incident back in April. There were a few songs revealed as well as a couple of drama OSTs, but most other artist activities were put to a stop.
From May, more K-Pop tracks were revealed. EXO made a comeback with 'Overdose,' but Baek Ji Young's 'Fervor' took first place right after EXO, and god took first a day after with 'Ugly Duckling.'
One of K-Pop's biggest stars EXO could not even make over a day as first place on the music charts. The pattern remained the same when IU and Four Men made their comebacks soon after.
Fly To The Sky's 'You, you, you' took first place for eight days, and Gary and Jung In's "Human Smell" took first after them.
As June began, even more K-Pop songs rolled in. Big Bang's Taeyang made a comeback with 'Eye, Nose, Lips,' and Davichi soon took first after him with 'Break up then back together,' and now Beast's 'Not Anymore' is in first.
After May 7, all the songs that remained on top were medium tempo or ballads. The only dance song was 'Overdose.' This is ironic, with the world cup 2014 coming soon.
Many people in the Korean entertainment industry speculate this is the after-effect of the Sewol disaster. Singers avoided the upbeat and fast rap songs to soothe people listening to their music.
As of June 10, Beast's 'Not Anymore' is still on top followed by Taeyang's 'Eye, Nose, and Lips,' and Gary and Jung In's 'Human smell.' Fly to the Sky's 'You, You, You,' and IU's 'My Old Story' are still among the top 10.
