Girls’ Generation (SNSD), 2NE1, 2PM Wins at Japan MTV Awards

Popular K-Pop artists Girls' Generation, 2NE1 and 2PM won major awards at Japan MTV's Music Video Award (MTV VMAJ) on Saturday at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

2NE1 received the Best New Artist Video for their song, "I am the Best," beating other artists such as LMFAO and James Blake.

2PM received the Best Group Video with "I am Your Man," while Girls' Generation won Best Album with self-titled debut Japanese album, Girls Generation. The album released June of last year sold 206,979 copies becoming the 11th best-selling album in the first half of the year on Oricon chart.

Unfortunaltely, Girls' Generation was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to their conflicting schedule.

2NE1 commented, "We want to thank our staff and Blackjacks, our fans. 2NE1! Let's play!" The girls heated up the venue with their performance of "I am the Best," and "Scream" in front of more than 6,000 audiences.

Last September, 2NE1 debuted in Japan with their "NOLZA IN JAPAN" tour.

2PM shared in Korean, Japanese and English upon receiving the award, "We like to thank our fans and those who love 'I am Your Man' in the honor of receiving the award."

2PM and 2NE1 performed along with top Japanese groups EXILE and J Soul Brothers at the annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan.
