Big Bang: Their Recent Solo Accomplishments & Highly Anticipated Comeback

The members of Big Bang are capturing more attention as the months draw closer for the release of their highly anticipated comeback album. Taeyang is basking the glow of his successful album “RISE” while G-Dragon is maintaining his status as a style icon and leading brand endorser.

YG Entertainment has been vague about the exact date of the upcoming Big Bang release. However, the overall media presence of the group has greatly increased during the month of June.

Big Bang members continue with their solo activities, drawing worldwide media attention for what could be the most successful release of the group and the best K-Pop album of 2014.

Taeyang is helping to deliver Big Bang into a new era.

On June 11, KBS announced that the song “Intro” from the latest Taeyang album “RISE," would be banned from broadcast due to the use of English profanity.

Taeyang is not the first member to release tracks which contain profanity and more sexual lyrics, as Big Bang prepares to celebrate their eighth year in K-Pop.

While some may see this as negative attention, the incorporation of mature themes on “RISE” signals the transition of Big Bang as adult artists.

In addition to having mature lyrics on "RISE," Taeyang delivered a racy bed scene for the music video "1 AM."

"RISE" has been incredibly well received by audiences, with the album placing at the 112 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. With this achievement, Taeyang is now the highest placed Korean male solo artist for the Billboard 200.

The Taeyang single "Eyes, Nose, Lips" also received number one wins on M! Countdown and Music Core. Taeyang placed number one for the June 12 episode of M! Countdown following a performance of his comeback stage and was the champion of the June 14 episode of Music Core.

Taeyang provides fans with a sense of what motivated him during the making of “RISE” in this latest release from YG Entertainment.

T.O.P continues to hold his ground as one of the sexiest men alive.

While Taeyang and Daesung have maintained a focus on promoting their solo releases, T.O.P has been the focus of the From T.O.P exhibition which highlights his photogenic face.

T.O.P recently completed filming for the upcoming movie “Tazza 2” which is scheduled for release in Fall 2014.

As part of the Reebok Classic campaign, T.O.P makes old school Reebok look refreshingly new. The campaign places T.O.P with stunning former Wonder Girls member Sohee, creating a gorgeous endorsement couple.

Daesung continues his success in Japan.

Daesung has topped Japanese iTunes charts with his latest release “Rainy Rainy."  “Rainy Rainy” was digitally released on June 11 by YGEX and contains four tracks.

Daesung is credited as a lyricist for the track “Rainy Rainy." The album was released prior to the start of his Japanese concert tour.

Seungri has proven he can be a strong actor in Korean drama.

Seungri won over new audiences with his first Korean drama role on the SBS weekend series “Angel Eyes."

His character Teddy Seo experiences the heartbreak of ill-destined love, allowing Seungri to present a naïve and pure side to viewers.

Seungri displayed his range of emotions through the role of Teddy, engaging and attracting K-Drama audiences who were not necessarily fans of Big Bang.

While T.O.P has established a solid course towards becoming an action star, Seungri is well placed to take over the small screen.

G-Dragon has emerged to become a major brand representative.

While G-Dragon is no stranger to product endorsements, the range of products he currently represents has vastly increased over the past year.

From his guest appearance in PSY's “Hangover” video to an interview spot for Chanel, G-Dragon has become a coveted endorsement figure.

In 2014, G-Dragon has represented J.Estina in their worldwide campaign, as well as G-Market and LG.

In addition to his solo activities, G-Dragon has been preparing for the upcoming release as one of the primary lyricists and producers for Big Bang.

As the leader of Big Bang, G-Dragon has set the foundation for global recognition of the group and is the increased focus of attention by mainstream Western media and music fans.

Big Bang is prepared to reach the hearts of K-Pop fans.

In the past months, the members of Big Bang have made a return to old school fan engagement. G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Seungri have participated in small scale fan meetings such as their June 14 event in Chengdu, China.

On June 7, Big Bang delivered a group fan meeting in Busan at the Lotte Hotel for select Japanese fans.

This return to simplicity is a far cry from the massive stadium performances that Big Bang has grown accustomed to. When Big Bang makes their comeback, it is guaranteed to be huge.
