Before the guys made their debut, a representative from JJCC's agency, The Jackie Chan Group, shared some of their unique traits. The representative stated, "All of the five members possess skills in rapping, singing, songwriting, and of course, musicality, as well as dancing skills in popping, jazz, b-boying, and ballet for various performances. The group can speak three languages including English, Korean, and Chinese... The five members created a synergy effect with their different colors. We ask that you show a lot of interest and anticipation for the five gems who will represent Asia."

Aside from SimBa, E.co, Eddy, and San Cheong being able to speak Korean, Chinese-Australian member Mak can speak fluent Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, and is currently still mastering his fourth language, Korean.

Interest was definitely piqued because of JJCC's unique circumstances.  The hype proved to be grounded as their debut single, "At First," lived up to expectations and the group found its footing among fans.

Henry Mak goes by his middle name, Prince, for his musical promotions, a name he says his father bestowed upon him.  "He told me it was because, 'I'm the king, so you're the prince'," the star said in a featured article from The Guardian that also discussed his early years in Liverpool (a suburb of Sydney) and music as a central passion and driving force in his life.

Mak grew up playing the piano and, later when the young star was in high school, he joined a band and learned how to play the bass guitar.

Mak's parents did not, at first, want him to pursue music as a career, instead hoping he would become a doctor or lawyer instead.

Mak told his parents that he was studying Psychology at the University of New South Wales; which a year later, he confessed that he was studying music instead. They accepted his choice and now several years later, he has reached his goal as part of JJCC.

Being into music, Prince Mak's biggest influence was the "King of Pop," Michael Jackson, ven though he stated that he is also a big fans of legendary singer and guitarist, Prince. Mak said, "Yeah, I love Prince! I've listed to his songs since I was pretty young. And I used to dance to them for popping and locking."

The typical day for the members initiates early; which Mak explained what the guys do when working with their manager, Jackie Chan. He stated, "We wake up at 5.45am on the dot and go running. At 7.30am we go home, shower and by 8 are at the dance studios until noon. Only then do we eat our first meal of the day. The afternoon is for vocal or rap lessons. After dinner we practice our individual talents. Then at 11pm we go back to the dance studios until 1.30am."

With the early morning and dance sessions throughout the day, Mak also explained that each of the members follow a strict diet plan. "I can't choose what I eat, nor when I eat it." He further explained that "everything is scheduled, and you can't complain about it." Though Mak and his members has a busy schedule and follows a strict diet plan every day, Mak stated that all of this will benefit in the end because he stated, "I want to be big internationally."

When asked about his home and what he misses, Mak stated, "the people, the air, the culture, the food." Lastly, Prince Mak said his thoughts regarding doing something that your destined or assigned to do; which he said, "If you're going to do something you might as well be the best. Or do your best, anyway."
