U.S. Version Of Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 Removed Indefinitely For 'Adjustments' [EXCLUSIVE]

English-speaking Hallyu fans checking the top songs on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 last month were in for a surprise, when instead of the 100 most popular South Korean singles, they found a message announcing the chart's demise.

"This chart has been discontinued effective with the May 17, 2014 issue date," the chart read in all capital letters, followed by the standard explanation that had accompanied the pop single sales tracker.

"The week's most popular songs according to Billboard Korea ranked according to digital sales from leading download/streaming websites and mobile providers."

Yet, despite the fact the K-Pop Hot 100's Wikipedia page confirms the English language version of the chart was discontinued on May 17, Billboard charts manager Gary Trust claims it will be returning.

"We've removed the chart temporarily while we make some adjustments and hope to have it back up soon," Trust wrote in an excusive statement delivered to KpopStarz via email.

The charts claims he cannot speculate as to exactly when the English version of the K-Pop Hot 100 will return to Billboard.com.

"There are no additional details we can provide at this time," Trust wrote.

The chart's disappearance comes at a moment when K-pop acts like Psy and Big Bang's Taeyang are continuing to make major headway crossing over in the other areas of Western pop genres.

In the past week, Billboard.com has written several articles about the music video for Psy's newest single "Hangover," featuring Snoop Dogg, which was released on Sunday and has already received over 50 million views on YouTube.

Taeyang's solo album "Rise," released on June 2, is currently 112 on the Billboard 200 album charts. The leadoff single, "Ears, Nose, Lips," is also the number one single on the K-Pop Hot 100 right now.

If you don't speak Korean, you may not have known that.

Starting next week, KpopStarz will be providing translations of the K-Pop Hot 100 for our non-Korean speaking readers.
