Three boy bands are dominating the idol group competition.

Every week, top singers in South Korea aim to win prizes from a multitude of music shows.Three of the most popular idol groups, EXO, INFINITE, and VIXX have been dominating the charts recently, revealing both the similarities between the groups and how close the competition is to be a top group.

INFINITE and EXO are generally recognized as two of this generation's top idol groups, but VIXX has slowly been gaining popularity since its debute. With the "Eternity" wins, VIXX has gained enough momentum to be considered a rival of the other two groups.

EXO-K gained the triple crown on Inkigayo with "Overdose," making the group ineligible to win again, and VIXX took over, surprising many fans who expected INFINITE to win. EXO-K won once on Music Bank, then INFINITE won twice. Both INFINITE and EXO-K have won on M! Countdown. Each of the three groups has won on Show Champion.

Even though the three groups have only truly competed once or twice based on the timing of their song's release, the fact remains that they are consecutively competing to become the number one idol group.

 The similarities between the groups are blatant: idol dance groups that have extremely dedicated fans. They're from different companies, even though INFINITE's Woollim Label is a subsidiary to SM C&C.

These three groups tend to release songs around the same time, but rarely go head-to-head against one another. While EXO and INFINITE were already recognized as two of the most popular idol groups, VIXX has always struggled a bit. But VIXX's win over INFINITE reveals how close those two groups are competitively, propelling them into the top ranks of K-Pop.

However, the relationship between the groups isn't a bad one, even if they're competing. EXO and INFINITE have been seen cheering on one another, and VIXX stated earlier this year that it doesn't see EXO as a rival.

A friendly rivalry cannot hurt any of these groups; they're all extremely successful and have won multitudes of awards.

The K-Pop industry has numerous idol groups competing to be the top, and the fact that these three boy bands have proved that they are each capable of holding their own is impressive.
