IU has joined the artist lineup for KCON 2014. She is one of the most talented female solo artists in Korean pop, with accomplishments that extend beyond her music and into the arena of Korean drama.

IU has held some of the most culturally significant starring roles in K-Drama which include the beloved Lee Soon Shin in “You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin.”

Her presence at KCON 2014 is welcomed by both K-Pop and K-Drama fans, who are excited to have the first opportunity to see IU in the United States.

Here is a look at five facts about IU to prepare for what will undoubtedly be an amazing performance at KCON.

1. IU starred in the iconic musical K-Drama “Dream High.”

IU launched her successful Korean drama career as Kim Pil Suk in the KBS2 teen drama “Dream High.”

The shy and introverted personality of Pil Suk was endearing to viewers while providing an interesting subplot.

Audiences also enjoyed watching the endearing love line of Pil Suk and Jason (2PM Wooyoung), which became known as the “Milky Couple.”

Since “Dream High,” IU has been held the lead role in the family drama “You're The Best, Lee Soon Shin,” as well as the female leading role opposite Jang Geun Suk in “Pretty Boy.”

2. Her release “Modern Times” was one of the most successful albums in 2013.

IU shed the simplicity that surrounded her image as Korea's Sweetheart for the 2013 album “Modern Times.” “Modern Times” was her third album release, which reflected a big band retro sound.

“The Red Shoes” was the lead single from “Modern Times”. “The Red Shoes” was declared an all-kill after placing number one on all real time charts.

3. IU has collaborated with numerous male idols including Big Bang's Seungri.

IU appeared on the 2011 Seungri release “V.V.I.P” with the R&B track “I Know.” Prior to her collaboration with Seungri, IU recorded the track “Nagging” with 2AM Seulong for the reality program “We Got Married.”

Her most recent collaboration is the well received song “Not Spring, Love, Or Cherry Blossoms” with High4.

4. Besides her own releases, IU has covered numerous other artists.

Although, IU has achieved idol status, she is not beyond covering other musicians.

Like CNBLUE's Yong Jung Hwa, she has become known for her wide array of covers.

5. IU is not just another pretty vocalist, she is also a talented guitarist and lyricist.

IU has joined the artist lineup of KCON 2014 which also includes Girls' Generation, CNBLUE, and BTS. Her performance at KCON 2014 will be her first in the United States, guaranteeing fans a unique opportunity to see one of the most talented female performers in K-Pop.

KCON 2014 will be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena from August 9 through August 10. Tickets for KCON 2014 will go on sale June 27.
