Houston Rockets Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Going In, Omer Asik And Jeremy Lin Out?

With the NBA Finals finally over, we head on to some interesting Houston Rockets rumors, one of which could finally make it a title contender in the upcoming 2014-15 season.

We're talking about the Rockets reportedly interested in getting New York Knicks standout Carmelo Anthony.

If the former NBA Scoring champion opts out of his contract with the Knicks, Anthony would become an unrestricted free agent which means other teams could get a shot at landing him.

However, a report from Yahoo News! said that the 30-year old veteran is already 'inclined' in leaving the Knicks in spite the rebuilding project started by its manager Phil Jackson and new head coach Derek Fisher.

In addition, Melo looks like he would be choosing either the Rockets or Chicago Bulls, which both have great promise in terms of Playoff contention.

The Bulls have been a surprisingly formidable team in spite the absence of former MVP Derrick Rose, thanks to the defensive stance of its head coach Tom Thibodeau. The addition of Anthony and the eventual return of Rose will merge two offensive superstars and balance the team for the Windy City.

However, because Rose has been rarely healthy the past two seasons, Anthony could make his way to the Rockets to create the new Big Three of the East. James Harden and Dwight Howard are already among the top five in their respective positions in the NBA, and adding another top five guy (on the three position), will allow Houston to be even better in the offensive end.

Unfortunately for Houston fans, signing Anthony could mean the departure of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik who both have huge contracts with the Rockets. Meanwhile wing man Chandler Parsons could also be entering the free agent market, which means there would be gaping hole in the Rockets offense.

But in case this deal pushes through, we can't imagine two players (Melo and Harden) who love ball hogging handling so much to be on the same team.
