Lee Seung Chul's Cover Version Of JYJ Junsu's 'I'm In Love' Sparks Controversy For Not Giving Proper Credit To The Original Singer

Singer Lee Seung Chul may have started a mini-controversy with his recent cover version of “I'm In Love.”

The legendary Korean star released “I'm In Love” for the You're All Surrounded soundtrack on June 10, but new claims state he did not give proper credit to the song's original singer, JYJ member Junsu.

In a statement to South Korean news agency OSEN on June 17, C-JeS Entertainment, the company that manages Junsu, explained that the OST production team did not live up to their part of the bargain in giving proper credit to the original singer.

“When we heard the song would be remade, all we asked was for it to be revealed that it was originally Junsu's song in any related press releases,” said C-JeS. “But there seems to be a mistake in that area.”

Fans of the JYJ singer perhaps took the matter a little too far, spreading hateful comments around the internet directed at Lee Seung Chul not long after the cover version was released.

In response, the veteran singer was forced to address the matter on his Twitter. “[The fans] are making it so that Junsu and I will never be able to see each other... what a shame,” he posted to his followers.

However, C-JeS and Junsu mean no disrespect to Lee Seung Chul and the company set out to clear the air and set fans' minds at ease.

"The only problem we mentioned was the writing of the press releases, so we are taken aback that the situation seems to be becoming much bigger than it is," an agency rep told OSEN. "Junsu previously said on his official Facebook that it was an honor to have this musical connection with his senior in relation to this remake."

To clarify the matter further, the rep also noted, "In addition, we never made an objection to the reps of Lee Seung Chul in regards to the rights of the song."
