Kim Hyun Joong Japan Single 'Hot Sun' Tops Oricon Daily Chart

Singer Kim Hyun Joong is another Korean sensation that has been added onto the list of artists who are making a mark in the music scene in Japan.

Kim recently released his new Japanese single "Hot Sun," selling 65,000 copies and ranking No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Chart, according to a report on June 18.

This is Kim Hyun Joong's first single since last year. He will be holding a "hand-shaking" event on June 19 and 20 in Nagoya and Osaka.

The singer and actor's career has been skyrocketing as of late with his role in the drama "Generation of Youth," which will also air in Japan this August.

The 28-year-old debuted in Japan back in 2012 with his single "Kiss Kiss/Lucky Guy," selling the most albums for a foreign artist that just debuted.

The former leader of the boy band SS501 recently held a fan meeting in Japan to promote his recent drama as well. The idol member was greeted at the Haneda Airport by about 1,000 fans, who brought him gifts and letters, according to Allkpop.

The "Boys Over Flowers" star held two fan meetings, one with actress Lim Soo Hyang, who made a surprise appearance on stage. Kim sang the "Generation of Youth" OST, "When Today Passes," as well as his hits "Your Story" and "I'm Your Man" for his many fans.

"I'm happy that I was able to meet my Japanese fans for the first time in a while. I prepared hard for 'Generation of Youth' and I worked hard filming it. I hope you all love it," stated Kim.

Kim Hyun Joong will be making his last tour before beginning his mandatory military service, according to the publication focustaiwan.

Taiwan will reportedly be the singer's first overseas stop next month, as he's scheduled to sing in New Taipei City on July 5 following the opening in Seoul of his "Phantom" tour.

Kim will then travel to Beijing, Bangkok and Yokohama later in the month before heading to Osaka, Hiroshima, Shanghai and Guangzhou in August.
