Seth Rogan Movie Irks North Korea; Country Calls New Seth Rogan Film About Assassinating Kim Jong-un an `Act of War'

North Korea says Seth Rogen's new comedy, "The Interview" is an "act of war." Two days ago, North Korea officially condemned Seth Rogen and James Franco over their new movie, The Interview. In the new Seth Rogan James Franco comedy, there is apparently a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

In a statement published by the KCNA news agency, a spokesman for North Korea's foreign ministry called Rogen as a "gangster filmmaker." North Korea asked that the U.S. to block the film.

The statement said "The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership... is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable," the spokesman said, adding that the US would face a "resolute and merciless response" if it fails to ban the film, which is slated for release later this year.

North Korea officially condemned Seth Rogen and James Franco. North Korean officials blasted the new comedy about American TV workers who are recruited to assassinate Kim Jong-un as a symbol of the "desperation" of U.S. society.

According to statements, news of the movie sparked "a gust of hatred and rage" among the North Korean citizens and soldiers and "The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership ... is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable."

Kim Myong-chol, executive director of the Centre for North Korea-U.S. Peace and who the media calls the "unofficial" spokesperson for North Korea's "supreme leader," said he will probably watch the movie anyway.
Kim Myong-chol told the Telegraph "There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society."

"A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the U.S. has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine," he added. Kim said Hollywood movies are "full of assassinations and executions."North Korea threatened a "resolute and merciless" response against the U.S. if it doesn't ban the movie.

Franco plays a nighttime talk show host on "Skylark Tonight." Rogen plays his producer and friend. They score an interview with Kim Jong-un. The CIA asks them to assassinate the Korean leader. Kim Jong-un will be played by Korean-American actor Randall Park.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Rogan said "We read as much as we could that was available on the subject. We talked to people in the government whose job it is to associate with North Korea, or be experts on it."

Rogen reacted to the story with a tweet on his account, saying "Apparently Kim Jong Un plans on watching #TheInterview. I hope he likes it!!"
