CURRENTLY: preparing to attend ninth grade in the fall

INTRO TO K-POP: "My BFF got me into K-pop in 2011," Koi said. "My cat had just died of cancer and I was too sad to speak to anyone. My friend was trying to find a way to get me to speak and decided to use K-pop. She made a list of songs and I became hooked after she played 'Daydream' by Super Junior. Ever since that day, I have listened to K-pop."

THE DIFFERENCE: "I feel that K-pop is different from the pop music found in other countries because of the wide variety of songs," Koi said. "There are almost never two of the same songs in K-pop, which makes me love it even more! If I were to describe it to someone who had never heard it, I wouldn't be able to find the words to describe it; it's just so unique. I've gotten many of my family members hooked on K-pop by playing different songs. What I'm trying to say is this, K-pop isn't just a musical genre, it's a way of life that everyone should enjoy."

FAVORITE GROUP: Super Junior

WHY SUJU: "I have come to admire this band due to their teamwork and their work ethic," Koi said. "Even though there have been many members coming and going throughout the years, each remaining Super Junior member has managed to get along and work together. This is what I most admire." And for any K-pop fans that may have written off Super Junior, the 14-year-old Hallyu fanatic advises against it. "I think that fans should keep and eye on Super Junior," Koi said. "The band is still writing new and amazing songs while working on future steps towards the band's future [sound]."

FAVORITE SJ SONG: "Butterfly"

FAVORITE SOLO ARTIST: Bang Yongguk of B.A.P

WHY YONGGUK: "Yongguk is my top solo artist because of his unique personality, his incredible voice and his generosity," Koi said. "He raised money to help build schools in Africa and even raised money to help educate orphans in South Korea. He is just an incredible person."

FAVORITE YONGUK SONG: Secret singer Song Ji Eun's "Going Crazy" featuring Yongguk 

THE FUTURE OF K-POP: "I hope that Super Junior and B.A.P continue to make great songs and I hope that both groups stay together for many years to come," she said.
