EXO's Chanyeol May Pursue An Acting Career

Blockbuster director Kang Je Gyu is interested in EXO.

Korean media outlets are reporting that EXO's Chanyeol is being considered for a role in upcoming movie The Last First Love. The film is being directed by one of Korea's top directors, Kang Je Gyu, who is known for two of South Korea's most popular films, Shiri and Taegukgi.

If he gets the role, Chanyeol will be playing an innocent high school student. Considering his wide-eyed, innocent appearance, Chanyeol is likely to end up with the role.

SM Entertainment has said that Chanyeol is responding positively to the offer. If he does so, this will be Chanyeol's debut as an actor.

Chanyeol has already represented EXO in variety shows like Roommates and The Laws Of The Jungle. His solo activities have been generally well-recieved and Chanyeol is proving to be a popular icon, so it is understandable why Kang Je Gyu would reach out to this specific EXO member, even though he has no real prior acting experience.

The idol has appeared as a guest actor in a drama and appeared in a music video, but has never had a supporting role prior to recieving the offer.

Chanyeol will not be EXO's first idol to act in movies; both D.O. and Luhan have recieved roles in Korean and Chinese films.

The Last First Love will depict a family and the romantic relationship of an older couple. This is a very different plotline than Kang Je Gyu's previous films, which usually have politically-driven plots and are action films.

The full cast of The Last First Love will be revealed shortly, and filming will begin in August, according to The Korea Herald.
