The Boss Heats Up Malaysian Summer With A Blazing Showcase

The sun is up and it's time to turn the volume up. Some might have enjoying the groove at Glastonbury festival while some samba their way to Rio De Jeneiro. How about a summer party with five dazzling guys from South Korea? It may seems like an outlandish choice but on their maiden visit to Kuala Lumpur, last week, we are willing to bet that this summer has been paradise, at least to some of you. This five-membered group, DGNA or Dae Guk Nam Ah (literally means 'The Boys of Super Space) or known internationally as The Boss blazed through 3-days showcase in 3 different states in Malaysia from 20-22 June 2014. From Seremban Prima to Mahkota Parade, Malacca, the group, which consists of Mika, Karam, Hyunmin, Injun and Jay, kept the searing atmosphere continued before wrapping up at 1 Shamelin Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

Singing We Are Together, The Boss also danced step-by-step to the rhythm of the song delivering an energetic opening to their showcase. Continuing their performance with Sad Story, this is 'it song' as the harmonization showed by these lads were incredible. A combo of Mika's high-pitch note and Injun's falsetto in the beginning, melodic voice of Karam and Hyunmin's husky in the middle, together with Jay's rapping towards the end brilliantly brought out the emotion of the song. They also performed other dynamic dance-typed songs entitled What Are You and Why Goodbye with sharp, strong and intense choreography in it. No performance is complete by any groups if they did not showcasing a song from their debut days. The Boss sang to NewBoyz, a track from their 1st mini album, 'Awake' as they choose to danced the memory lane with the fans; indeed this song brought the nostalgia as we could hear the loud screams and high intensity of the fan-chants from the audience.

The Boss truly enjoyed their time in Malaysia and they felt very honored to be able to perform in difference states of Malaysia too. Not only that, Karam added that one thing that they were impressed about Malaysia is, it's the paradise of food and ever since they stepped on the soil of Malaysia, they have been non stopped satisfying their carb craving with scrumptious Malaysian delicacies such as 'satay', 'chicken rice', 'rojak' and 'bak kut teh'. The Boss also showing off some Malay wordings and phrases that they have learnt, such as 'Saya Cinta Kamu' (I Love You- Mika), 'Terima Kasih' (Thank You-Injun) and 'Kamu Sangat Cantik' (You're Beautiful-Jay). Karam once surprised the audience with 'Saya nak kencing' (I want to pee) during the press conference and once again he uttered the phrase during the showcase and this time, he walked out from the stage jokingly as if he wanted to go to the toilet. The Boss kept giving fans more surprises and this time it was Hyunmin's turn as he sang to one of the famous Malay festive song, 'Balik Kampung'. The effort that they put to learn the local language for the fans were incredible. Perhaps, we should give them a thunderous applaud and standing ovation for this amazing effort.

To add the fun and excitement during the showcase, The Boss has prepared and interactive game with fans whereby five lucky fans were chosen to be paired with each member and they need to guess the action performed by The Boss's members. Once again Karam surprised the audience as he chose a male fans from the crowd to be paired with him. The Boss seems to be quite an expert in this game, giving quite accurate clues to their partners and Karam even lied down of the floor posing as mermaid upon performing the clue to his partner. Through out this game session, the atmosphere in the venue was filled with laughter witnessing the wittiness, playful and dork character of The Boss's members. What we can conclude from this session...everybody have fun!

As a parting gift for the fans who has shown their support throughout their stay in Malaysia, The Boss performed a bonus song entitled 'Lady'. This song maybe pretty generic, started out simple with minimal instruments, however as the song reached its climax, The Boss gorgeous voice suddenly explode giving soul to the song. Not enough with their dulcet harmonization and solo lines, their belting technics was indeed stunning. Their vocals literally shine and left the audience's jaw dropped.

The Boss also had a photo and fan-signing session with the fans before wrapping up their showcase. The Boss truly heated up summer in Malaysia and with their euphonic vocals; it gave another reason why their songs should be on your I-pod playlist.
