K-Pop Gets Popular in Miami

The popularity of K-Pop continues to be popular in the United States because last Saturday, there was a Korean music and pop culture convention; which was held at the Miami Convention Center at 400 SE Second Ave from 11 AM to midnight. So, news media outlet the Miami Herald featured an article regarding the event called Kpop Con Miami that happened for the first time on the East Coast.

On Saturday, according to the Miami Herald, there were movie screenings, games, dancing, panels, contests, and more. Also, there were a singing showcase, a dance competition, as well as a dance party at the end of the night.

One person named Denzel Williams who is 21 years old said, "I like K-pop music because it actually talks about real issues, but it’s not too provocative."

The people who thought of this fabulous idea were Ted Kim and his wife Jiyoung who are CEOs of a merchandise vendor Kpoppin USA, which they approached South Florida Kpop Fans. Jiyoung Kim said, "It was something we put together real quick"; which was planned to occur after the day Block B featured a concert at the Filmore in Miami Beach.

Bianca Matheson who is twenty-two years old, created the Facebook group and has attracted 773 members who are non-Korean. Bianca who is the main event coordinator said, "The main point is that we are fans who are organizing it. This is a really exciting and groundbreaking event." Bianca further said, "In Miami, we don’t have a large Korean community but wanted to provide K-pop entertainment for the fans. There’s definitely a K-pop interest here."

People are hoping that this event becomes an annual one; which Cynthia Nunez said, "It will be really fun to reach out to all of the other K-pop fans out there."

Taeyang's Single "Eyes, Nose, Lips" Gets Covered By Other Artists

News media outlet the Wall Street Journal featured a report regarding how Taeyang's new single titled, "Eyes, Nose, Lips" is being covered by other K-Pop artists. So far, the artists are Akdong Musician and Tablo.

Taeyang's single was released on June 3rd and is from his second solo album "Rise." While YG Entertainment has not announced details, the third artist might not be a star on who will cover Taeyang's single, according to the Wall Street Journal. YG Entertainment said on its official Twitter account that it would start "Eyes, Nose, Lips Cover Project By You" last Friday; which fans will be able to submit their own version of Taeyang's single.

News media outlet Popdust featured an article regarding how K-Pop is spreading and getting more popular in the United States. One thing that the article explained was about Mark James Russell's book titled, "K-Pop Now!: The Korean Music Revolution"; which is very useful for a person that is still a novice and does not know the reason why K-Pop is getting popular.

The book is lavishly colored; which it is "a hyperactive style…where you often get just minute segments of a song before the deejay quickly moves on to something else. Apparently, even pop songs are not fast enough for the high-speed pace of young Korean people today." Mark James Russell's book has a total of 128 pages; which explains about known K-Pop artists.

K-Pop is Getting More Popular As Stars Travel More

News media outlet Billboard featured an article regarding how K-Pop is getting more popular in the US. Idols are now traveling more instead of just letting their music video get views on YouTube. According to a new research, K-Pop concerts has shown tremendous growth around the world over the past four years. One website named MyMusicTaste.com, has posted a picture chart that looks at fan demands to bring acts to different countries.
