TVXQ-Big Bang Rank 6th On Japan Oricon Album And DVD Charts

Idol groups TVXQ and Big Bang have been getting international attention throughout 2014.

Both K-pop bands were seen on the Japan Oricon first half of the year album and DVD top 50 charts.

The music website revealed through their homepage that both groups ranked at No. 6 on two of the different charts.

TVXQ's latest album "TREE," which was released back in March, ranked at No. 6 on the Top 50 Album chart, which is the highest ranking for a Korean artist on a Japanese music chart. Their previous album, "TENSE," was also seen on the chart, ranking at No. 47.

TVXQ's single "Hide&Seek/Something" ranked at no. 26 on the 2014 Oricon First Half of the year Comprehensive Top 50 Single chart as well.

Big Bang also showcased their undeniable popularity in Japan by ranking No. 6 on the Top 50 DVD chart with their "BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2013~2014" DVD.

Both groups have been topping charts and making headlines before their recent achievement on the Japanese music charts.

TVXQ successfully wrapped up its two-month-long tour in Japan in late June, according to Yonhap News.

The duo performed 29 times in 10 cities throughout the tour, which began in Yokohama on April 22 and ended in Osaka on June 22, drawing in a total of 600,000 fans, according to their agency SM Entertainment.

The company also revealed that the dynamic pair attracted a total of 2 million fans to its concert in Japan over the past three years, a record for a foreign act to make this achievement in the shortest period ever in Japan.

"TVXQ also became the first foreign artist to hold solo concerts in Tokyo Dome and Osaka Kyosera Dome for three years in a row," SM Entertainment stated.

In late March, Big Bang became the first Korean boy group to reach the 100 million view mark on YouTube with their music video for their track "Fantastic Baby."

The music video for "Fantastic Baby" was released on March 6, 2012 and was the single on their fifth mini album titled "ALIVE."

Big Bang is currently preparing for the upcoming "AIA REAL LIFE NOW FESTIVAL" concert, which will be held on August 15 in Seoul.
