For months, we have been waiting for any hints about the MacBook Air Retina Display release date to no avail. As usual, the Cupertino manufacturer is tight lipped when it comes to rumors and leaks of its upcoming devices. 

However, a recent report from DigiTimes claim that the ultra-portable device would arrive just in time for Christmas. That means it should be announced around October of November, the same time of the year that Apple usually launches its new generation iPads. 

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm such details until Apple gives them themselves. While the rumor could most likely be true, DigiTimes is not that reliable when it comes to leaks, and so we just stay calm and wait for the actual MacBook Air Retina Display release date. 

As for the device's design, reports show that it would still sport the same basic features and designs. However, there will be subtle changes to give way to some hardware changes. 

Some of the notable changes would include a better screen, Retina, which would be the first time the MacBook Air lineup gets one. Another improved hardware should include the battery, in order for the MacBook Air to run longer hours. 

Interestingly, rumors are pointing out that the device will have its first 12-inch version, which should squeeze in nicely between the 11.6 model and the 13-inch version. 

In previous reports, the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display should boast the portability of the 11-incher, while packing impressive performance similar to the 13-incher at the same time. 

Other specs of the upcoming MacBook Air include the latest Intel chipsets, 4GB RAM, and hopefully retains the price range of the current MacBook Air models. 

Apple was expected to unveil the latest addition to its MacBook Air lineup during its WWDC conference, and because it didn't, rumors say that the upcoming version of the well-loved portable laptop would be something special.
