Big Bang Taeyang's Solo Album, 'RISE' Is First K-Pop Album To Have All Songs Reviewed By U.S. Billboard

Taeyang has been dominating music charts internationally with the release of his most recent album, "Rise."

The Big Bang member's solo album is the first K-pop album to get a track-by-track review done by Billboard magazine.

"While fans around the world knew and loved Taeyang through his group BIGBANG, it wasn't until the release of his second solo album, 'Rise,' that the K-pop singer earned support as a superstar in his own right," wrote the music publication.

"Rise," as its name indicates, has only been rising in popularity since its release. Taeyang set the record for the highest-ranking K-pop artist on the "Billboard 200," coming in at No. 112.

The R&B singer is also seen on the Billboard World Albums Chart ranking at No. 9. Taeyang's title song, "Eyes, Nose, Lips," has especially been gaining interest via various music programs and sites.

During the filming of the upcoming episode of "Sketchbook," Taeyang revealed to host Yoo Hee Yeol that the track was written about his most recent relationship, according to the publication Allkpop.

In the course of his interview with Billboard at the YG Entertainment headquarters in Korea, the 26-year-old gave an in-depth explanation of his hit single.

"This song is the title track of the album. It's also the last song that was completed. My album was basically released because of this track. Both [producer] Teddy and a foreign writer named Becca [Johnson] wrote this song. I remember feeling very excited about it, because it came about so unexpectedly," stated the dancer.

He continued, "While Teddy was writing out the chords, Becca came along and wrote out the melody on the spot. I liked it so much, and I believed I could put a fresh feel to it with my voice. After finishing the demo recordings, I discussed my personal experiences with Teddy, which he thought would be cool to incorporate as lyrics. We were able to write a song together about missing an old lover, reminiscing about their eyes, nose and lips. It's a very emotional track."
