SNL Cast 2014 Dramatic Shake Up: Brooks Wheelan “Fired” After One Season, Breaks The News On Twitter

The SNL cast 2014 is starting to feel the impact of a few shake ups before its milestone 40th season! "Saturday Night Live" newbie Brooks Wheelan, who joined the show for season 39, has been suddenly dropped from the NBC series.

The cast member took to Twitter to reveal that he was no longer a part of the hit comedy show.

"Had a blast and loved every second of it," wrote Wheelan (@brookswheelan). "I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke... FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!"

Brooks Wheelan was brought into the SNL team at the same time as five other new additions to the SNL cast 2014. From the sounds of it, the 27-year-old comedian may not be the only featured player facing the sack at this important time in the show's history. We can expect to see some more big surprises over at SNL HQ - back in June, Executive Producer Lorne Michaels indicated cast adjustments were on their way.

"We're still in the middle of rebuilding," Michaels said in an exclusive interview with Deadline. "So there will be changes this year."

But all is not lost for Brooks Wheelan - while the talented comedian may no longer have a place on the SNL cast 2014, CNN notes that other cast members who have been in a similar position have gone on to have great success in television and film. Both Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson were kicked off the comedy show, but have found followings in "Trophy Wife" and "Happy Endings" respectively.

Chris Parnell, who was fired twice from the live comedy show, has found fame in "Suburgatory" and "Glee". Despite being fired after cursing during SNL's live broadcast, Jenny Slate has also recovered and regained traction in the entertainment world, now starring in the movie "Obvious Child".
