Perhaps due to her boyish charms, f(x)'s Amber is the one female K-pop idol that receives girlfriend rumors over boys.

"I grew up playing a lot of sports, [and] thus tying up your hair and wearing comfortable clothing was a must," said Amber regarding her unique masculine style. "I finally chopped off my ponytail at the end of middle school, and it was the best decision I made."

Back in 2011, f(x) conducted a Chinese interview where interviewer Calvin Chen questioned Amber about her ideal boyfriend type.

"There are types of guys who, if you look at them, they're very cold," said Amber in the interview. "But when they laugh and smile, they look really cute. I prefer that kind of guys."

As such, many fans have paired up Amber with EXO's Kris as an ideal match.

But in addition to men, Amber also has many fans who would rather she have a girlfriend.

One such example is Girl's Day Minah, who was photographed hugging Amber from behind during MBC's "Show Champion."

"Oh the fan fiction that can be written from that last picture alone," commented destiny on OneHallyu.

"I like how Amber can get really easy on the skinship with other idols," wrote Stanningyou on July 16. "Seeing our Amber with others is always a pleasure."

As such, whenever Amber is photographed having physical contact with another female idol, f(x) fans seems to hope it will become something more. Another example is with Sistar's Bora.

"Dear SM Entertainment, please confirm that Bora and Amber are dating," tweeted Touch & Move along with a photo of Amber draping her arm over Bora.

Recently, a number of Amber's labelmates have come out to confirm their relationships with other idols, including EXO's Baekhyun and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon.
