Prior to music debut, Jung Yong Hwa received attention from citizens in Busan, as a model-worthy internet sensation. His handsome features led to his discovery by a talent scout and after some reluctance, Jung Yong Hwa auditioned for what is now known as FNC Entertainment.

He debuted as Kang Shin Woo in the 2009 musical drama "You're Beautiful" prior to the launch of CNBLUE. "You're Beautiful" was a tremendous success, helping to build the careers of the main cast members. Although, the drama was well received, CNBLUE debuted with humble beginnings.

Since their debut, CNBLUE has continued to grow in success and has developed a worldwide audience. Jung Yong Hwa is well noted for his production and songwriting technique which has been repeatedly praised on "Weekly Idol."

Beyond CNBLUE, he has received recognition as a talented emcee and a variety show participant. He has appeared on "Running Man" more than any other idol. He witnessed an increase in fans after he was coupled with Girls' Generation member Seohyun in 2010 for "We Got Married."
