Miley Cyrus dead rumors went viral and alarmed fans as Liam Hemsworth's ex-fiancee's hiatus from Twitter and Instagram further fanned the nasty report.

The Miley Cyrus dead rumors first started with the creation of a Facebook page which turned out later to be a hoax, according to Epoch Times. The description in the social media read: "{SHOCKING) Miley Cyrus Found Dead in Her Los Angeles Home! Country singer Miley Cyrus found overdosed this afternoon in her Los Angeles home."

"The hoax is designed to spread bogus surveys that make money for the scammers behind it," the website said about the news on Liam Hemmsworth's ex-fiancee. "But first, when users click on the post, they're redirected to a website designed to look like Facebook."

Meanwhile, HollywoodLife noted that Miley Cyrus has been silent on her Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts for the past several days which had fans worried.

"The last time the 'Wrecking Ball' singer was on Twitter was July 18. She hasn't been on Facebook since July 17. The last pictures she posted on Instagram were on July 18 of her new dog Emu and a toilet," it said.

However, the website quickly added that Liam Hemsworth's ex-fiancee could just be resting after her Bangerz tour is on break up until August 21 when it resumes in New York.

That didn't stop fans from going on Twitter to jump on the Miley Cyrus dead hoax.

User @Nialls_Baby1993 tweeted: "Is @MileyCyrus Seriously Dead? :"( im scared . :o"

Another user with the handle TheNamesJassieJ added: "Miley Cyrus dead ? TF."

Back in April, Miley Cyrus was hospitalized for a mysterious ailment, which prompted her to cancel her Bangerz tour. Although the medical diagnosis was allergy to antibiotics, HollywoodLife said that Liam Hemsworth's ex-fiancee was depressed when her dog died on April 1.

A source said: "What Miley is suffering from is much more than an allergic reaction to antibiotics. She's really suffering from the death of Floyd. Floyd was her best friend. She feels like a part of her, a big part of her, has died."
