Asian Music Festival Featuring Beenzino, Dok2 & The Quiett Has Been Rescheduled

Representatives from the event organizer, SIVA Group, released a statement attributing problems with obtaining proper visas as the primary reason for the change of the event.

In their Facebook statement, the event organizers reached out to fans by stating “The concert is not cancelled, and we do hope to see all of you on Friday, September 5 at the same location (BB Kings Blues Club) in New York.

Fans of Dok2 and the Quiett expressed their disappointment regarding the rescheduled event. Dok2 and the Quiett were scheduled for a series of performances in May 2013, which included a New York area engagement for the Rutgers University Korean Student Association. Dok2 and the Quiett were headliners for the 2013 student show but were unable to perform, after being turned back from a New York City area airport.

Performance visa issues have continued to be problematic in 2014. Jang Kiha and the Faces were unable enter the U.S. for their scheduled performances which included SXSW. Earlier in July, Wheesung and Moon Myung Jin were scheduled to make several stops throughout the United States. These performances were also postponed due to performance visa discrepancies.

This recent incident is being attributed to a glitch in the system at the U.S. State Department which has had a major impact on international business and entertainment. The Wall Street Journal explains this event as, " a technical glitch which has hampered the U.S.' ability to issue visas around the globe, stranding thousands of foreign businesspeople, high-tech workers, and performers."

Ticket holders for the August 2 concert have an opportunity to attend a special night which includes performances by Flowsik of Aziatix.

Organizers of the Asian Music Festival have also scheduled programming for Saturday, August 2 which includes a talent competition and a performance by Flowsik of Aziatix. Aziatix has gained notoreity in the rap community as the first major Asian hip hop artists to be signed to an American label. Aziatix is signed under YMCMB, which is home to prominent rappers including Lil Wayne.

Ticket holders for the illionaire concert which was initially scheduled on August 2 can attend the performance by Flowsik and talent show at no charge.  Tickets for the illionaire concert will be honored by organizers for the rescheduled performance in September.

The organizers of the Asian Music Festival have demonstrated their commitment to fans by rescheduling the event for September 5 and by offering an opportunity for audiences to attend a night out on August 2.
