‘Venom Carnage’ Movie Release Date In 2017! Spider Man Not In The Movie? Sony Setting Themselves For Disaster!

The superhero movie craze is in full swing, and four major studios are scrambling to make more films. Sony, among all the studios seems to confused. The Venom movie is now a "Venom Carnage Movie" which means they are going the whole Alien symbiote route.

That sounds like a good plan because it was a good storyline in the comic books. But the movie will have one important thing missing: Spider Man.

Cinema Blend points out that Sony's direction with the movie and their plan to exclude Spider Man is a recipe for disaster.

Carnage is an exciting villain. Ever since Venom movie was announced, fanboys wanted them to take the next step and include Carnage. CB shows why:

"Carnage, by extension, built off of the incredible popularity of Venom as a comic book character, attaching the symbiote to a serial killer named Cletus Kasady. Where Brock had a slight bit of a conscience, Kasady was a heartless killing machine - and Spider-Man ultimately needed Venom's assistance to take the villain down."

The idea that Venom would probably turn a new leaf would be an interesting angle. The ambiguous anti-hero is a trope that never gets tired. Wolverine, Deadpool, Lobo who thread the line between good and evil are some of the most popular characters in comic books today.

It's better to introduce Venom as a hero than riding on the trend of making Spider Man "darker and edgier" like what Zach Snyder is trying to do with Superman. But the idea of Venom and Carnage alone without Spider Man-CB continues:

"Will Spider-Man fight alongside this female character who'll carry a movie in 2017? And will Spidey show up in this Venom-Carnage movie that Alex Kurtzman is attached to? There are a lot of moving pieces on Sony's Spider-Man board... but too few of them seem to include Spider-Man, as reported.

I understand that Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperformed based on what the studio was hoping to see, financially. But do audiences want to see a Sinister Six movie, a potential Black Cat movie, or a Venom-Carnage movie WITHOUT Web head? Or is he the gas the keeps the engine moving? I'm very excited by the possibility of seeing some of the finest characters in the Spider-Man universe make their way to the big screen. But if Spider-Man isn't a part of these plans, what exactly is the point?"

Sony seems to think that the reason for the failure of TASM 2 was that Spider Man's popularity as a character is waning. On the contrary, Spider Man's popularity is the only thing that is keeping the train wreck alive.
