Huawei Ascend P6 Review: Specs Of Android Handset Incl. 4.7” Display, Quad-Core Processor, 2 GB RAM; Able Handset With More Potential

Huawei Ascend P6 review: Specs of the Android-powered Huawei Ascend P6 is decent. It’s powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, and has a 2 GB RAM memory, 8 to 16 GB internal storage (expandable to 32 GB), Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS (upgradable to 4.4 KitKat), and an 8 MP primary camera. It’s a good handset with some great features that could have delivered more.

With a premium price, Huawei hopes to step up the game with the release of this sleek and ultrathin smartphone, promising more beauty than brains or brawns. In fact, its dimension of 5.22 x 2.58 x 0.24 inches and weight of 120 grams is quite impressive. But is that the only extraordinary quality that this handset has?

Its stunningly slim body has a black brushed-metal finish at the back with a Gorilla Glass display and drilled speaker holes at the bottom. Also available in white and pink, the Ascend P6’s metallic body feels great and solid. engadget.com even says, “When put next to Samsung's Galaxy S 4, for example, it makes the Korean flagship look and feel shamefully thrown together.”

Although its 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is not a Full HD display, its 720 x 1280-pixel resolution and 312 ppi pixel density still provides crisp and vibrant images with excellent viewing angles. For outdoor viewing, you can keep the brightness no less than 50 percent for solid blacks and colorful hues. It also has a noticeable resilience to fingerprints. Overall, its display is as sweet as it looks.

The same, however, cannot be said for its processor. Many critics are commenting that it sometimes tend to lag. Still its quad-core processor is still apt.

Meanwhile, camera-wise, the Ascend P6 is a surprisingly good shooter on both ends. Its 8 MP primary camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, autofocus, and an LED flash is pretty much ordinary.
But its macro function is something. Huawei even boasted its "distance-defying" 4cm capabilities. The more impressive camera is the 5 MP secondary one. The company has given much attention on the selfie camera that could now do more than just video chat.

In the end, the Huawei Ascend P6 is not really that much of a sweet treat. It doesn’t have specs or features that would blow your mind. Still, if you are after the looks, then this handset is definitely a worthy choice.
