Carmelo Anthony Weight Loss Diet And Workout Routine Revealed: New York Knicks Forward Cuts Carbs, Includes Drills And Yoga

Carmelo Anthony’s weight loss of course spurred on a bunch of sports fanatics to see what the New York Knicks forward did to drop a couple. Or a lot. Turns out, the basketball star’s diet and workout routine is quite simple. Not to say that it was easy. The big question is, what inspired Carmelo Anthony to change his diet and workout to lose weight?

The Knicks forward posted a picture on his Instagram showing off his svelte figure.

He captioned the photo, “Gran sesión de entrenamiento de hoy,” or in translation, “Great training session today”.

Great training session indeed. Soon after his posting, the Internet blew up with his diet and workout speculations, as well as trying to figure out why the forward decided to drop a couple.

According to his confidant who spilled the beans to New York Post, Carmelo Anthony "wants to be as athletic as he was when he was a rookie. Plus he wants to be a facilitator in the triangle and speed will help that."

Orlando Magic forward Tobias Harris also admitted that the New York Knicks forward did look better. "He looked real good," Harris told the Post.

So what’s the diet and workout routine that Carmelo Anthony used to drop a couple? It’s quite simple actually. The first thing that he did was cut most of the carbohydrates from his diet and add a little bit of a variety to his workout routine. Instead of just running or playing basketball, he mixed in “agility drills, weights and yoga”, according to CBSSports.

Some sports gossip mill websites have been saying that Carmelo has lost a lot of weight because he thinks that will help him in the triangle offense. In fact, he may be hoping that he will fit the image of a small forward that the New York Knicks president Phil Jackson has in mind.

NBA forward has been playing well as a power forward, but he may want to revamp his image.

This isn’t the first time that the New York Knicks forward caught the Internet’s attention with his interesting diet. Last year, he was criticized for going on “Daniel Fast”, inspired from the bible in the middle of NBA season. The modern “Daniel Fast” means cutting meat, dairy, coffee and alcohol and sugar. It’s basically vegan diet sans all the fun.

Either way, losing weight can really only help his career. Having less body weight to lug around each game means that there is less pressure on his body, which may lead to reduced injuries on the joints, muscles and what-have-yous.
