Big Bang member Taeyang's Japan Solo Tour Starts Off With A Bang In Yokohama

Big Bang member Taeyang's solo tour in Japan has officially begun.

The R&B sensation performed songs from his solo Japanese debut album "RISE + SOLAR & HOT" in Yokohama on August 18, bringing in the attention of countless fans and local media.

"I always wanted to do a solo concert, no matter how big the venues are. I just wanted to become one with you. Thank you," stated Taeyang towards the end of the concert, according to the publication Yahoo Entertainment Singapore.

The "Rise" hitmaker performed a total of 18 songs, revealing his toned abs in the course of his incredible performance in front of 5,000 fans.

Taeyang, who is the third member of Big Bang to hold his own solo tour in Japan, will be visiting six other cities, performing at 13 concerts. He's expected to meet with approximately 70,000 fans during the tour.

The singer has only increased his fan base in Japan, as his recent solo album sold 40,000 copies, ranking No. 2 on Oricon's daily album chart, according to MSN Entertainment XIN.

"Rise" was an international success, even reaching No. 112 on the Billboard 200, a new record for Korean solo acts, according to the music magazine.

Despite the success of rise, Taeyang, being the perfectionist that he is, revealed to the media outlet that he's still not fully satisfied with the album.

"As a musician, there are certain artistic qualities from this album that I'm unsatisfied with, but I am extremely thankful and grounded that people like it -- especially because it's an album that holds my emotions, memories and musical values that I have felt and gained in the last four years while I was working on it," explained Taeyang.

With his recent album, Taeyang has officially proven himself as a singer-songwriter outside of Big Bang. The singer revealed that although the solo Taeyang and Big Bang Taeyang aren't "significantly different," he does need to take more aspects of his career into consideration when working on his solo act.

"I used to think the two were very different, but now I think that wall has been torn down. It's just that as a solo artist, I have more burden and responsibilities on my shoulders," stated the singer.
