Jennifer Hudson’s Half-Brother Stabs Man In The Face Weeks After ‘Dreamgirls’ Star Honors Murdered Nephew

According to TMZ, Jennifer Hudson's half-brother, Steven Simpson, has been arrested for repeatedly stabbing another man in the face. The website claims that the man had a relationship with Simpson's estranged ex-wife.

This scary news comes one week after Hudson hosted a charity event in memory of the singer's late nephew Julian King, who was killed in 2008.

Steven Simpson was reportedly taken into custody in Paw Paw, Michigan after the stabbing. He will allegedly be charged with home invasion and attempted murder.

The frightening event recalls the murder of Hudson's nephew Julian, mother Darnell, and brother Jason just a few years ago. The "Dreamgirls" actress's family members were killed in October of 2008 by William Balfour, the ex-husband of Hudson's sister, Julia. It was Julia's son who lost his life in the tragedy.

Balfour received three life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Just last week, Hudson hosted an event called Annual Hatch Day Celebration, in an effort to help underprivileged children in honor of Julian, who was 7-years-old at the time of his death.

"We want these kids to know that we are here for them and paying attention to their needs," Hudson told Yahoo Celebrity. "If one child walks away with that feeling, then we've been successful."

According to SheKnows.com, the Julian D. King Gift Foundation celebrates Julian's love for school by providing educational tools for less fortunate students.

The Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims was also created in honor of Julian, Darnell, and Jason.

"The only thing I can do to honor their memory is to make them proud, Hudson told Oprah in a 2011 interview. "I keep thinking, 'Would my mother like this or that, would she want this?'"
