Roger Federer Posts First Instagram Selfie With Michael Jordan Before First US Open 2014 Game Against Marinko Matosevic

Isn’t it surprising that Roger Federer, tennis’ selfie king, didn’t have an Instagram until today? Instagram’s latest bloomer did justice by posting probably the best first selfie with Michael Jordan. Roger Federer met up with Michael Jordan before his first round US Open 2014 match against Australian tennis player Marinko Matosevic and snapped away at the opportunity.

“It was an honor meeting one of my childhood idols today #MJ,” Roger Federer wrote on his first Instagram selfie, “Also, this is my first @Instagram. How'd i do?”

Very well. You pass the test in flying colors.

If you’ve been watching too many US Open 2014 games and not keeping track of everything Roger Federer related, here is the link to his official Instagram account.

According to the previous article, Roger Federer, the king of grass, takes selfies anywhere and with everything. He snaps away with his new Wilson racquet, with his doubles partner Stan Wawrinka, in his home country Switzerland and with also, most importantly, bird poop. Even Eugenie Bouchard, the 20-year-old queen of tennis selfies, admitted that Roger Federer likes selfies more than she does!

Maybe his wife Mirka, who also happens to be his public relations manager, is encouraging his selfie habit.

Roger Federer is eyeing the US Open 2014 title to add to his 17 Grand Slam titles. With Rafa Nadal out of this year’s tournament due to his wrist injury and with world number one Novak Djokovic’s lackluster performance since Wimbledon (and his wedding), the Swiss champion has a real chance of clinching another title. That is if the youngsters (Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios and the like) don’t creep up behind the veteran.

Well now with an Instagram account, nothing can stop Roger Federer! Let’s hope that he performs just as well in US Open 2014 as he does on camera!
