Joan Rivers Stops Breathing During Surgery: ‘Fashion Police’ Star Reportedly In Stable Condition After Presumed Cardiac Arrest, Daughter Melissa En Route To New York Hospital

Comedian Joan Rivers has reportedly been rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York after she stopped breathing during throat surgery.

According to TMZ, 81-year-old Rivers was undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords when the crisis occured. The television star's heart is said to have stopped beating at one point. After news first claimed that the comedienne's status was critical, E! News has reported that Rivers is currently in stable condition.

An emergency call to 911 was reportedly placed at 9:39 am ET. TMZ reports that a caller said, "We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest."

News of the "Fashion Police" host's hospitalization comes after a busy week. Rivers hosted a special edition of her E! show which covered both the VMAs on Sunday and the Emmys on Monday.

Rivers' daughter Melissa is reportedly en route to New York to be with her mother. Melissa, who stars with the comedienne on the reality show "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?,"

Bravo star and talk show host Andy Cohen tweeted out his thoughts for Joan.

Fans and friends have joined Cohen in sending out messages of support for the famed lady of comedy.

Comedian Billy Eicher from Funny or Die's "Billy on the Street" even sent a humorous tweet to show his support for Rivers.
