It looks like Justin Bieber just landed himself in hot water once again. The troubled singer was arrested in Canada on Friday, after crashing his ATV into a minivan driven by paparazzi, and then getting into a physical altercation with one of the photogs. As it happens, on-again-off again girlfriend Selena Gomez was riding along with Bieber when the incident took place. Could this be the wakeup call the pop star needs to drop him for good?

According to Ontario police, the crash took place after Bieber and Gomez were photographed together on the ATV, and led to a physical confrontation initiated by the singer. Police were called, but the couple had left by the time they arrived. Constable Kees Wijnands says Bieber turned himself in when he found out they were looking for him, and was cooperative with the arrest. The constable added that there were no injuries resulting from the initial crash, but declined to say whether anyone was injured during the fight that followed. Bieber was charged with dangerous driving and assault, no one else faces charges. Authorities released the singer on a promise to show up in court on September 29.

Matters could be made more complicated by the fact that Bieber is currently on two-years probation in the US for misdemeanor vandalism, resulting from an incident in which he egged a neighbor’s house earlier this year. The LA County Probation Department says they have launched an investigation to determine whether this latest encounter counts as a violation. If they determine it does, the star could find himself behind bars before his trial even begins.

This ordeal is just the latest chapter in the long complicated saga that has been the Bieber-Gomez relationship. The couple’s rollercoaster romance has been going for years, marked by several breakups. Earlier this summer it looked like Gomez might have finally moved on when she was romantically linked to One Direction’s Niall Horam, but then sure enough, after completing a stint in rehab the starlet was seen once again cavorting around with Bieber. Will this be the straw that finally breaks the camels back in this relationship? Or will Gomez forgive her erratic boyfriend’s behavior again?
