Original cast member of Japanese drama "Nodame Cantabile," actress Ueno Juri, is excited for the Korean remake of the show.

Ueno Juri played the role of Nodame, a gifted student who prefers playing the piano by ear rather than reading music. She had plans to be a kindergarten teacher, but all that changed when she met Shinichi Chiaki, a handsome, but arrogant, perfectionist who dreamed of becoming the conductor of an orchestra.

The story was adapted from a popular Japanese manga, and first came to life as a drama in Japan in late 2006.

Ueno Juri recenty visited South Korea where a remake of the hit drama is in the works. During an interview with Yonhap News, the Japanese actress spoke positively of the new version which is set to premiere next month and will star Korean actress Shim Eun Kyung.

The role of Nodame kickstarted Juri's career and remains close to her heart to this day. As for her expectations of the Korean reinterpretation, Ueno shared, "I don't think I can set any expectations for it. I just can't wait to see it."

She also added, "I was glad to hear that a Korean remake is in the works. Seems like the Korean fans were truly touched by the drama. I anticipate it a lot. 'Nodame' was my first lead role. When we started filming, I had no idea a special version or a movie would be produced later on," 

Ueno Juri also shared praise for Shim who will be playing her iconic character in the Korean version.  She shared that she already enjoyed watching Shim Eun Kyung in "Miss Granny," the Korean star's latest film, which was released earlier this year.

In her interview, Juri went as far as to point out the commonalities between Shim and herself. "I heard Shim Eun Kyung is currently the same age as I was while filming 'Nodame,' and this is her first lead role in a drama," she explained. "She is in a similar situation as I was, and I hope she enjoys success through the drama. I heard Korean actors have strong mind control when it comes to challenges. I believe the cast is perfectly fit for the drama."

The Korean version of "Nodame Cantabile" is titled "Tomorrow Cantabile" and it will premiere October 13 on KBS2.
