Big Bang Seungri's Car-Flipping Accident Called 'Average' By Police

Korean police have said that Seungri's car accident would be considered normal if not for his celebrity status.

Big Bang's youngest member got into an accident on September 12, after his car collided with another vehicle. Despite extensive damage to both cars, MBC reported that Korean police said Seungri's accident was average.

"Seungri's car accident would be considered average if he wasn't a celebrity," claimed a police representative to MBC's Section TV.

However, despite the claim, the incident seems far more than average. The two cars involved were both badly damaged, and Seungri's car hit a guard rail, which resulted in it flipping over. Seungri also was on his way to the hospital when, according to a YG Entertainment rep, he got out of the ambulance to ride with his manager instead.

South Korea has one of the highest amounts of traffic accidents in the world, resulting in the police seeing numerous serious car accidents each year. The country is second only to Mexico when it comes to deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents. There have been numerous celebrity car accidents in the past.

There have been several high profile celebrity car accidents within the past few weeks, including the tragic accident that led to the passing of two Ladies' Code members. JB of GOT7 also was in a car accident on September 12.

Section TV also reported that Seungri's car was missing its black box, which usually would be able to help piece together the exact occurrences leading up to the accident.

Alcohol was reported not to have been a factor in the incident. An investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the accident.

YG Entertainment issued a statement saying that Seungri had not been injured.
