Arizona Cardinals' Jonathan Dwyer Latest NFL Domestic Violence Case, Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Wife

Jonathan Dwyer of the Arizona Cardinals is the latest football player to be arrested in a series of domestic violence cases involving the sport. Very few details are available at this time, but Gossip Cop reports that the running back was pulled out of practice on Wednesday and taken in by the police, who suspect him of assaulting his wife.

According to TMZ, Dwyer is suspected of attacking his wife on two separate occasions – on July 21st and July 22nd. Police told the site that she left the state with the couple’s child shortly after the assaults occurred. A report is said to have been filed on September 11. Investigators arrested the athlete after finding adequate probable cause.

Dwyer’s arrest, of course, follows several other similar scandals in the NFL.  First, Ray Rice was cut from he Baltimore Ravens and suspended from the league indefinitely after video surfaced of him punching his then-fiancé in an elevator. Then Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson was charged with injury to a child after allegedly beating his four-year-old son, and was also cut and suspended. Meanwhile, Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers was put on the league’s commissioner exemption list earlier Wednesday, pending the resolution of his own domestic violence case.
