Scotland’s Three Century Union Under The Scanner! What's The Reason For Doing So?

In a major move, more than four million Scottish voters are expected to cast their ballot and decide the fate of Soctland's three hundred year old union with the United Kingdom on Thursday. The historic referendum is all set to change the fate of Scotland. Campaigners on both sides of the referendum are leaving no stone unturned to pursue their voters. In a bid to ensure that the maximum numbers of voters get to the polling both, the campaigners are also utilizing the power of social media forums like twitter, Facebook, etc. along with sending last minute emails to gather maximum support.

According to an exit poll conducted by YouGov, a leading market research firm, there is only a marginal difference of 4% that is currently separating the voters in both categories. As per their research, approximately 48% of the population is backing the independence move by supporting the 'Yes' campaign. Over the last few months, several such polls have indicated a similar difference in numbers making it a very tough competition.  However, the Yes campaign is gathering momentum and currently the city of Dundee is being referred to as the 'Yes' city because of its strong support to the independence campaign in Scotland.

outed as one of the biggest festivals of democracy, this voting campaign has seen several political experts come forth and share their views including Gordon Brown who has worked very hard to increase the reach of the 'No' campaign to match the enthusiasm levels of the opposition camp. In fact, this election will be for the first time where people as young as 16 years of age will be allowed to vote. While the fate of the country remains to be seen, the major issues amongst the many others that can prove to be a cause of concern in case the union terminates are pension, taxation, energy, machinery, defense as well as renegotiation of several international treaties with the European Union.
