AOA Bounces Back From ‘Miniskirt’ Controversy: Named K-pop ‘Goddesses’

AOA has officially won the title of K-pop's "Goddesses" with their new track "Miniskirt."

The seven-member girl group's digital single topped the popular Taiwanese music charts, Omusic K-pop Daily Singles Chart and Weekly Chart, for two consecutive weeks, according to the Korean publication Osen Entertainment.

Their track "Short Hair" was seen ranking No. 2 on the music chart as well.

AOA's musical domination across Asia comes after the group celebrated their second debut anniversary in August. The girls uploaded a special video clip, which shows them singing a birthday song in front of a big cake, to mark the special occasion, according to the website Yahoo Entertainment Malaysia.

"We couldn't make it all the way here if it wasn't for your amazing love. We will do our best to keep making better music," stated the members of AOA.

Following the success of their single, AOA, also known as Ace of Angel, will be releasing their "Ace of Angel AOA: Best Album" and their first mini-album "Short Hair" in Taiwan on September 26.

AOA will also be making their highly anticipated Japanese debut in October.

The all-female group will be teaming up with one of Japan's largest music corporations, Universal Music Japan, to launch their debut into the entertainment industry in the country.

AOA already have a solid fan base in Japan and even attended the "a-nation - Asia Progress, Departure," which was held in July, according to the news publication Star N.

Despite their musical success, AOA had to make changes to the video for "Miniskirt" because it was deemed "too sexy," according to the music magazine Billboard.

The girl group has successfully bounced back from the initial backlash and has become known "very distinct amongst all of the K-pop girl groups in the industry" and has been noted for their "huge potential," according to a representative from Universal Music Japan.
